Male Nurses Do Rock.  I know that because I have been lucky enough to work with some of the best.

Sure many nurse guys face some prejudice and surprise, but overall they seem to handle all that with pride and respect for the job, the patients and their co-workers. A little sense of humor and a lot of patience and dedication, and most of the men I know that are nursing professionals are so top notch they come out ahead when faced with some challenges.  We honor and salute them just as we do all nurses.  LPN and RN Nurses are a very special dedicated class of people who shoulder the care and responsibility of strangers as though they were the most important person in the world every single one of them.

A great nurse makes all the difference in the world. A smile, some reassurance, just listening sometimes going above and beyond all the medical nursing school text book stuff every single nurse has learned and practiced and keeps on learning every single day.

A Nurse's Expression

A nurse's expression of care, compassion, knowledge and professionalism is written all over their face.  An RN or LPN's face is probably the first face patients and their families will see in the medical treatment or exam room and very often the last medical face they will see.  Every smile or frown, touch and tone of voice means a thousand things to the patient.  Later on the patient may not even remember everything the nurse said, but they will always remember the look on their face and in their eyes when they said it.

Nursing Scrubs

Nursing scrubs aren't just about what you wear.  To work.  Your job.  Your career.  Scrubs have to fit just right, not too snug and not too loose.  You may have a dress code or with any luck, you get to choose your own scrub pants and tops.  Love the variety.  Love the solids.  Mostly I just love the fit too.

My whole fashion closet is well, scrubs.  Panic attacks if I have to go out to a restaurant! Pressure and decisions if I have to go to a party.  But scrubs.  Oh yeah.  I know scrubs!

Nursing School

Nursing School is a requirement for all nurses whether they want to become an RN, LPN, Certified Nursing Assistant or even a Home Health Aide.  Nursing requires a great deal of education both hands on and in the classroom.  The amount of classes and years of school it will take to become a nurse depends on the type of Nursing License or certification you want to earn.

    

  

One thing is for sure, whether you choose to become a Registered Nurse or a Licensed Practical Nurse you will be spending hundreds of hours learning everything from anatomy and physiology to assisting during surgical procedures.
