Nursing July 4th Freedom

Nursing July 4th is either completely "q" word or extreme chaos. More problems, more new admits from the Emergency Dept. More relatives coming to visit. Or totally boring with less visitors because they are all away and doing fireworks and BBQ fun or everyone was so busy having fun they didn't remember to not feel well.

Less surgeries scheduled if they can be because, well it's holiday weekend. 

But other than that, it's business as usual for a Nurse on Fourth of July. Patients to care for that would rather be well, be somewhere else. Medications on time. IV's to attend. Catheters and wound care. Time flies by until your shift is over. 

For you July 4th may have been just another day to be an awesome, compassionate, dedicated nurse. But for your patients, you made another day more bearable. Less scary. You were there for them. They were free to deal with their problems, because they had you to help them.

 

Nurse's Week

Nurse's Week is in May every year and a great time to show appreciation to Nurses both RN and LPN nursing heroes that make a difference in so many lives, every single day.  I hope you have a wonderful nurses day and even get a hug or two along the way.

Nurses RN and LPN nurses and everyone in the nursing profession are so dedicated to their profession, to their training and most importantly to their patients.  Nursing is about life.  Saving lives, improving the quality of lives.  Providing guidance, compassion, education and motivation along with nursing skills come caring enough to go above and beyond for patients and their families.

Nursing Scrubs

Nursing scrubs aren't just about what you wear.  To work.  Your job.  Your career.  Scrubs have to fit just right, not too snug and not too loose.  You may have a dress code or with any luck, you get to choose your own scrub pants and tops.  Love the variety.  Love the solids.  Mostly I just love the fit too.

My whole fashion closet is well, scrubs.  Panic attacks if I have to go out to a restaurant! Pressure and decisions if I have to go to a party.  But scrubs.  Oh yeah.  I know scrubs!

Nursing School

Nursing School is a requirement for all nurses whether they want to become an RN, LPN, Certified Nursing Assistant or even a Home Health Aide.  Nursing requires a great deal of education both hands on and in the classroom.  The amount of classes and years of school it will take to become a nurse depends on the type of Nursing License or certification you want to earn.

    

  

One thing is for sure, whether you choose to become a Registered Nurse or a Licensed Practical Nurse you will be spending hundreds of hours learning everything from anatomy and physiology to assisting during surgical procedures.
